Steve Horowitz focuses his practice on taxation, including civil and criminal IRS and North Carolina tax controversy and tax litigation, IRS and State tax collection matters, corporate, partnership, individual, and estate taxation, income and estate tax planning matters, and general business and contract matters. Steve graduated with a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Florida and received his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He earned his Masters in Taxation Law from New York University.
Steve has over 45 years of experience as a Tax Practitioner. He began as a trial attorney with the Office of District Counsel Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro, NC. He has served as a Tax Practitioner and trial attorney representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and the North Carolina Department of Revenue. He is a frequent lecturer and discussion leader at North Carolina CPA seminars and tax symposiums, other state CPA Associations, the North Carolina Bar Association, and bar association meetings and symposiums in other states. Steve is the author of the article “Negotiating Strategies for Effectively Settling Civil Tax Controversies” with the Internal Revenue Service.
Steve is a member of the North Carolina and Florida Bars. He is licensed to practice in the United States Tax Court and the US District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina. Steve is a member of the Southeastern Region IRS Tax Liaison Committee, the North Carolina Bar Tax Section, and the American Bar Association Section on Taxation Committee on Administrative Practice. He has served as Chairman of the North Carolina Bar Tax Section, is a Fellow in the American College of Tax Counsel, a member of the Tax Sections of the North Carolina Bar and Florida Bar Associations as well as on the UNC Tax Institute’s Planning Committee for the Annual Tax Seminar.
